Ever run out of space for coral frags and end up plunking them in the sand? Then these are for you! Introducing the Sand Spike concept. As with all Coralok accessories, this is to complement the Coralok Frag Disc. The threaded top on the Sand Anchor attaches to the main port on the bottom of the Disc turning your Coralok frag plug into one highly adapted for the sand. The large fins prevent the frag from toppling over and the wide plate prevents the Spike from going too far down in the sand. This is a specialized post for holding corals securely in the sand.
But wait, there's more! This too is also designed for use on egg crate. The four fins are sized just perfectly to fit into an egg crate grid. You can wedge all fins into one of the little squares, or you can place it so each fin is in its own little square and the frag sits right over the intersection. Because the fins are so long on this piece, they are quite secure on egg crate requiring the Coralok frag plug to be pulled up 2 inches before it can be removed, a pretty difficult feat for almost any water current, crab or fish.
Ready to move out of the sand and onto live rock? Just unscrew the Sand Spike and screw on a Coralok Rock Anchor and you're ready to go. No need to remove the coral and re-frag just to switch up placement.
This piece needs some slight tweaks before it hits the market, but expect to see it soon!
